Cape Town Commuters can expect a decrease in MyCiTi bus fares come July says the City of Cape Town (CoCT).
The CoCT says that the cost of monthly passes, daily passes, distance-based standard fares and Mover points will be reduced. City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, Alderman Felicity Purchase, says that the reduction in fees is possible because of the decrease in the price of diesel during May.
Commuters travelling from Atlantis to the Adderley station will see monthly fees decreasing by up to R147. Standard fees during peak hours on the same route, will be reduced from R39,60 to R29,30. The cost of a myconnect card, a single-trip card and their replacements will not change.
Alderman Purchase says that the tarrifs will remain in place unless there are significant hikes in the fuel price within the next financial year.
