According to reports Checkers clients can now have medicine delivered to their door via the Mr D delivery service.

Customers are required to contact their closest MediRite pharmacy (situated inside certain Checkers stores), place their order and pay for it via bank transfer or through their medical aid. Thereafter they can book the delivery on the Mr D Food app, who will then drop the order at their front door.

Reports state that a flat service fee of R45 is applicable and a delivery fee ranging between R5 and R15 will be charged depending on the customer’s area.

The initiative will initially be rolled out across 55 of the 90 Checkers supermarkets with MediRite pharmacies.

“Getting medicine to those customers who are unable to leave their homes is one of many solutions we continue to roll out,” said the Shoprite Group’s deputy CEO, Joseph Bronn.

The Shoprite Group recently announced its support for the Solidarity Fund in aid of the country’s response to COVID-19.

According to reports an initial donation of R1 million has been made while the Group will also grow this amount daily with the support of the public via its Act for Change Fund facility.
