Concern about bullying in South African schools has grown after reports that 15-year-old Lufuno Mavhungu, a Limpopo schoolgirl, committed suicide after a video made the rounds where she can be seen getting beaten up by a learner.

The two girls allegedly had an argument about what being beautiful meant and while more details leading up to the incident are unclear, the video clearly shows Lufuno being beaten by a learner at the same school.

Lufuno reportedly went home and overdosed on pain killers, she died in hospital.

According to reports, an assault case has not been opened with the SAPS and the provincial education department is dealing with the matter on that level.
