According to a media statement sent out by the SAPS, a seventh victim (34) was found Sunday night after a shooting incident took place in Khayelitsha on Sunday morning. Six people were found killed and seven injured.
The Police found the seventh body outside a shack in an informal settlement close to Sunday morning’s crime scene. “The body is believed to be that of the owner of the house where the shooting incident occurred, who was present during the shooting incident and was thought to have fled during the attack,” the statement read.
The statement further read, “the discovery of the body takes the figure of those killed in the attack to seven.” Five of the victims died on the scene, one died in hospital and seven were injured, including a 6-year-old girl.
The Police are busy identifying the victims and will then inform their next of kin.
An updated media statement said, “A team of experienced provincial detectives assigned to the cases has made an arrest today. The suspect from Khayelitsha is 32 years of age. More arrests are imminent as the investigation progresses. The suspect is expected in court soon.”
