The body of Michaela Williams (12) was found in Philippi on Thursday morning. Michaela from Grassy Park went missing earlier this week.
She had been playing in front of her New Horizons home with friends before disappearing. Brigadier Novela Potelwa reportedly said a 48-year-old man was interviewed after vital information was received. Potelwa said, “The interview led to him pointing out where the body was in Schaapkraal, Philippi.”
EWN wrote that Grassy Park Community Policing Forum’s Phillip Bam said the accused lived in the same street as Williams. He is due to appear in court on Friday.
Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieu-Gen Yolisa Matakata, expressed her shock at the death of another child in such a horrific manner. She thanked those who searched for Williams and said the perpetrator deserved a harsh sentence. “While this will not bring back the life lost…the lengthy incarceration of the perpetrator will ensure the communities of Cape Town are much safer.”
