Cape Town – This week Uber South Africa announced its partnership with insurance company Chubb would secure protection for drivers and Uber Eats delivery-partners too.
From the moment a request is accepted to the end of the trip, drivers and delivery-partners are covered. In addition, access to medical and legal assistance will also be available.
Uber SA will cover medical costs incurred 48 hours after an on-trip accident, up to a stipulated amount.
In the event of permanent disability, Chubb will determine the lump sum payment paid out to the driver.
A lump sum will be paid out to the dependants of the driver, following the death of a driver on-trip.
Uber SA says it aims to show its commitment to its drivers through this protection programme.
