Data analysis company, Lightstone, and tracking company, Tracker, have created an app called ShopSafe, the app provides tells consumers how busy the shopping malls around them are.
ShopSafe uses the consumers’ geo-location to access data from the closest malls. Consumers can access information on how many visits took place at the mall at any given hour on any given day. The information is meant to indicate when it would be best for the consumer to shop.
The app is updated weekly using data from Tracker to ensure that the changes in how often consumers visit the mall, is captured. Information on 1300 malls around South Africa is currently available.
The information is meant to indicate when numbers at the malls are low allowing consumers to make informed decisions when going shopping and avoid the risk of exposure to the Coronavirus.
